Mission Statement

Rose Hall Montessori School strives to educate the whole child by using the Montessori educational philosophy in a stimulating and nurturing environment that allows the children to grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually to reach their highest potential and to gain a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.

Values

RESPECT: We encourage all children to take pride in their accomplishments, while recognizing and honoring the work of their peers and teachers.

INDEPENDENCE: We provide a secure environment that allows all children the independence to express themselves as they explore who they are becoming within our diverse community.

DIVERSITY: We honor and celebrate the unique strengths of all children and work to help them understand that they are part of a larger and more diverse world.

RESPONSIBILITY: We work to instill a sense of ownership within all the children for their behavior and their treatment of others, at school, at home, and in the wider community.

KINDNESS: We encourage all children to practice kindness and empathy, through relationships with different-aged peers, acts of service, and daily acts of giving.

COMMUNITY: We look at all children within the context of their families and seek to create a strong sense of community among parents and caregivers by involving them in Rose Hall activities.

#40: having a good time for a good cause 🎉💃🏻😎🥳🥂
#39: the legacy of a high-quality preschool experi #39: the legacy of a high-quality preschool experience. Research has shown that what happens in the early years matters a lot. Early childhood experiences are laying the foundation for the rest of our lives. The opportunity to be in an environment where the primary goal of your teachers is to is to nurture a curious mind and caring spirit is magical. The legacy is immense. Corey (pictured here) was in my first class 15 years ago. She’s a freshman in college this year. I learned as much from her as I’m sure she learned from me. #teachingisagift #rh40andforward
#38: Jackson Pollock Day! An absolute favorite ❤ #38: Jackson Pollock Day! An absolute favorite ❤️ one of RH’s values is independence, “we provide a secure environment that allows all children the independence to express themselves as they explore who they are becoming within our diverse community”. Pollock, to me, is all about independent expression and exploration. Each one is unique. Each child engages with the activity differently. The day is about the opportunity to see art as a process of becoming rather than a product of perfection. #rh40andforward

But most days you will find the children so engaged with their materials that it will be quiet and peaceful and there is beauty in that. The children appreciate the opportunity to hear their own thoughts, dream a while, and concentrate on whatever it is they may be thinking 💭 #rh40andforward

In the many years that I got to work with her I knew her as generous and kind, always looking out for the teachers, giving the best hugs, and helping us build our library of books. We are grateful for her legacy. #rh40andforward

Rose Hall is grateful for our many opportunities to celebrate with our families, whether it is Hanukkah, Holi, Santa Lucia Day, or Earth Day. Summer at Rose Hall is a very popular way to introduce your little ones to the school, their teachers and their new friends. We can’t wait! #rh40andforward

It may seem simple but take a minute and think about the number of times you rapid-fire used your fine- and gross-motor coordination skills today. When did you learn those skills? Most likely the foundation was laid in preschool. Threading a needle in Miss Ann’s class is not only a fun way to work on fine motor, but it is also enticing and teaches a life skill! #rh40andforward
#32: the basement/gym/Rainbow Room; whatever you c #32: the basement/gym/Rainbow Room; whatever you call it - the kids love it! We use it for Little Explorer’s, Lunch Bunch, yoga, and gross motor play time when it is too cold or rainy to go outside. It is a VERY popular destination for the children and they often request it even when it isn’t raining. Did you know it used to have green tile floors and an old plastic kitchen? The basement was redone about 5 years after a parent community fundraiser! #rh40andforward #payitforward

Today many of Dr. Montessori’s goals can be found in the term executive functioning: working memory, flexible thinking and self-control; the ability to order oneself in the world and to find order in chaos, to find success.

Friday holds special meaning for children who have worked hard all week to complete something special that they are proud to share with their families 🤗 (this light box was a wish list item 4 years ago - what a gift!) #rh40andforward

Simple tasks such as soap grating or sink scrubbing allow a child to focus on the small details around them, uninterrupted, building an awareness of their effect on the world around them. These skills today are referred to as executive functioning skills and are the foundation for successful academic learning and lifelong development.

They begin with the concrete, moving to the abstract, and then building the relationship between them. Math was always something a little overwhelming for me in school and I truly believe if I’d had opportunities to put my hands on these materials there would have been less tears. #rh40andforward
#21: the Playground 🛝 Did you know that before #21: the Playground 🛝 Did you know that before the playground was redone the yard would turn into a mud pit every spring and your children would come home covered in mud? And that the play structure was nowhere near as fun? Did you know that Rose Hall families generously raised $40,000 to redo that playground in honor of Joan’s retirement? That’s what paying it forward is all about! #rh40andforward #generousspirit #payitforward
