The education of even a very small child, therefore, does not aim at preparing him for school, but for life.” – Maria Montessori

Rose Hall is a Montessori school in both curriculum and philosophy. We know that each child has an inner drive to learn and that he passes through sensitive periods to various kinds of learning…order, language, numbers, socialization, etc. We follow the child’s lead by providing classrooms with a wide variety of materials and nurturing teachers who carefully follow the child’s progress as he grows socially, emotionally and cognitively.
At Rose Hall our priority is to help each child become the person that he/she is meant to become and develop a strong sense of self and confidence. We work hard to provide a supportive, caring, peaceful environment in which young children feel safe to explore, grow, learn and become independent.
We take academic rigor seriously yet recognize that there are other equally, if not more important, life skills that are formed and cultivated in very early childhood years such as patience, empathy and compassion which are reinforced daily.
Rose Hall also places a strong emphasis on Maria Montessori’s passion for peace and community. The teachers invest a lot of group class time, what we call “Line Time” or “Peace Circle”, in helping the children address issues of compassion, conflict, respect and problem solving. Our teachers believe that fostering an environment of peace in the classroom not only aids in the children’s academic success but also enables them to begin the long work of becoming responsible, respectful and loving members of our larger communities.
We recognize that every child brings his/her own unique personality and talents and therefore we don’t try to enact a one-size-fits-all approach to their learning. We observe the children intently so that we understand how they react, what motivates them, what areas they need to focus on.
Rose Hall’s classrooms are a place where your child can feel at home, feel loved, and feel the freedom to explore and grow.
